Laudes Foundation appoints Annelies Withofs to lead its newest Food Programme

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Laudes Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Annelies Withofs as Head of its Food Programme focused on accelerating the just transition of the food industry.

The food industry is at the heart of the climate crisis - responsible for nearly one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, over one-third of food produced is wasted, generating nearly 10% of global emissions. The urgency to transform food production, distribution and consumption is apparent.

Annelies brings a wealth of experience leveraging philanthropic investments for change, including in the agriculture and food sectors during her last role at IKEA Foundation.

Annelies holds Steering Committee roles on the Global Alliance for the Future of Food, Aceli Africa, the Consortium for Agroecological Transformation India and the WRI Circular Food Systems Initiative East Africa - a testament to her influence on key advancements in the field.

  • Empowering cities to drive demand for sustainable products and reduce food waste;
  • Engaging food retailers, wholesalers, and food service companies to shift consumption patterns and minimise waste;
  • Supporting circular food system innovations; and
  • Promoting the inclusion, agency and accountability for workers and communities throughout the supply chain as these changes take effect.
